Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about justfixit.AI
General
What is justfixit.AI?
justfixit.AI is an AI-native computer repair platform. You install a lightweight local agent, click one button, and our AI diagnoses your computer's issues and executes certified, tested fixes — no IT experience required.
How does it work?
1. Install the justfixit.AI agent on your computer.
2. Click "Just Fix It" and the agent collects diagnostic data (no personal files, no PII).
3. Our AI analyzes the data and identifies problems.
4. The AI recommends certified fixes. You review and approve before anything runs.
5. The system confirms the fix worked and monitors for regressions.
What can justfixit.AI fix?
Windows Update failures, slow performance, network and WiFi issues, driver problems, printer/scanner issues, browser crashes, disk errors, software installation/repair, registry corruption, service and startup problems. We're expanding to IoT devices, network equipment, and more.
What operating systems are supported?
Today: Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit), and macOS 13+ (Ventura and later) on Apple Silicon — M1, M2, M3 or M4. Intel Macs and Linux are on the roadmap; there is no build for them yet, so we would rather say so than hand you an installer that cannot start.
Is my data safe?
Absolutely. We collect zero personal data. The diagnostic scan only collects system configuration, error logs, and service states. No files, documents, photos, passwords, or browsing history are ever accessed. All telemetry is anonymized before transmission.
Do I need to be technical to use this?
No. The entire point of justfixit.AI is that you don't need to understand computers. Click one button, approve the recommended fix, and the AI handles the rest.
Pricing
How much does it cost?
Free tier — Limited diagnoses and fixes per month.
Pro ($9.99/month) — 100 diagnoses/hr, 50 fix executions/hr, priority support.
Enterprise ($49.99/month) — Custom limits, SLA, dedicated support.
Pay-per-fix — $1 (simple), $3 (moderate), $5 (complex).
Can I pay with cryptocurrency?
We plan to accept USDC (stablecoin) payments on Solana. This is on our roadmap.
What if a fix doesn't work?
If a fix fails, the system automatically rolls back all changes to restore your computer to its previous state. You are not charged for failed fixes.
Safety
Can a fix break my computer?
Every fix goes through a rigorous pipeline: static analysis, sandbox testing in isolated VMs, cryptographic signing by the author AND the platform, a system snapshot before execution, and automatic rollback if anything goes wrong.
What happens before a fix runs?
You always see exactly what the fix will do before it executes. Nothing runs without your explicit approval (a button click). The system creates a snapshot of your system state first, so everything can be undone.
What if a fix causes problems after it seems to work?
We monitor outcomes for 7 days after a fix. If problems are detected, the fix is flagged and you're notified with rollback instructions. Fixes that cause repeated issues are automatically disabled platform-wide.
For Contributors
Can I submit fixes?
Yes! justfixit.AI has a community contribution program. Fixes are written in JFX, our constrained domain-specific language that prevents arbitrary code execution.
How do I earn from my fixes?
Contributors earn a revenue share every time their fix is used. Payouts are processed in USDC stablecoins. Your share increases as your trust tier goes up based on fix success rate and execution count.
What trust tiers exist?
Quarantine — New submissions, sandbox testing only.
Bronze — 25+ successful executions, score >= 60.
Silver — 100+ executions, score >= 75.
Gold — 500+ executions, score >= 85.
Platinum — 2000+ executions, score >= 90, manual review passed.
Technical
What is JFX?
JFX is justfixit.AI's constrained domain-specific language for fix packages. It defines a limited vocabulary of safe operations (start/stop services, copy files, set registry keys, etc.) — it cannot execute arbitrary shell commands. This is a core safety feature.
What is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the integration protocol. Any AI agent that speaks MCP can connect to justfixit.AI — you're not locked into our local agent.
Is justfixit.AI open source?
The signing framework (@justfixit/signing) and SDK libraries are open source under Apache 2.0. The core platform and local agent will have source-available licensing.
Getting Started
How do I install justfixit.AI?
Download from justfixit.ai/download. Run the installer — it takes about 2 minutes. The agent runs quietly in the background. No configuration needed.
What happens during the first scan?
The agent performs an initial health check: services, disk space, drivers, network, and recent error logs. No personal files are accessed. You'll see a health score within 60 seconds.
Can I use justfixit.AI on multiple computers?
Yes. Pro subscribers can install on up to 5 devices. Enterprise subscribers get unlimited devices with centralized management.
Do I need to keep the app open?
No. The agent runs as a background service. It monitors your system health continuously and notifies you when it finds something to fix.
How do I uninstall justfixit.AI?
Settings > Uninstall, or use your OS uninstaller. All local data is removed. Cloud account data can be deleted from your dashboard.
Privacy & Security
What data does the agent collect?
System configuration, service states, error logs, and performance metrics only. Never personal files, documents, photos, passwords, or browsing history. All telemetry is anonymized with one-way hashes before transmission.
Can justfixit.AI see my files?
No. The agent has zero access to your documents, photos, downloads, or any personal files. It only reads system logs, service states, and configuration files needed for diagnostics.
Is my data encrypted?
Yes. All data in transit uses TLS 1.3. All data at rest uses AES-256-GCM encryption. Your system state never leaves your machine unencrypted.
Can I use justfixit.AI offline?
Yes. The local AI model handles common diagnostics without internet. Cloud features (advanced diagnostics, fix repository updates) require connectivity.
How do I delete my data?
Dashboard > Settings > Delete Account. All cloud data is permanently deleted within 30 days per GDPR requirements. Local data is deleted immediately on uninstall.
Troubleshooting
A fix didn't work. What now?
The system automatically rolls back all changes. You're never charged for failed fixes. The outcome is recorded to improve future fix recommendations.
The agent seems to be using too much memory.
The local AI model uses 2-6 GB RAM during active diagnosis. Between scans, memory usage drops to under 100 MB. You can adjust the model size in Settings > Performance.
I'm getting 'connection failed' errors.
Check your internet connection. The agent works offline for basic diagnostics but needs connectivity for cloud features. If the problem persists, check Settings > Network for proxy configuration.
How do I report a bug in justfixit.AI itself?
Use the contact form at justfixit.ai/contact or /bug-report in our Discord community.
For Developers
Can I build my own agent that uses justfixit.AI?
Yes. Our MCP (Model Context Protocol) server exposes 6 tools for diagnostics, fix search, execution, and outcome reporting. Any MCP-compatible agent can connect. See our MCP Integration Guide.
How do I contribute a fix package?
Write a JFX package (our declarative fix language), validate it with our CLI tool, and submit via pull request. See the JFX Integration Guide for a complete walkthrough.
Is there an API?
Yes. The Repair Intelligence API provides RESTful endpoints for diagnostics, fix search, and execution. SDK libraries are available for Python and JavaScript.
Can I use justfixit.AI in my product?
The JFX language, MCP server, and signing framework are Apache 2.0 open source. Enterprise integration requires a commercial license. Contact [email protected].
Enterprise
How is justfixit.AI different from endpoint management tools?
We complement tools like BigFix and SCCM, not replace them. justfixit.AI provides AI-powered diagnostics that feed into your existing approval workflows. We handle the intelligence; your MDM handles policy.
Do you offer an on-premises version?
Enterprise plans include options for on-premises deployment of the Repair Intelligence API. The local agent always runs on-premises by design.
What compliance certifications do you have?
We are designing for ISO 27001, ISO 27701, SOC 2 Type II, and GDPR compliance from day one. All monitoring tools are SOC 2 + ISO 27001 certified. Formal certification is planned for post-launch.
Open Source
What parts are open source?
The JFX fix language (parser, validator, interpreter), MCP server, Sigstore signing framework, and reference local agent are Apache 2.0. The Repair Intelligence API, fix repository, and web platform are proprietary.
Can I self-host justfixit.AI?
The open-source components can be self-hosted. The full platform (cloud diagnostics, fix repository, community scoring) requires a justfixit.AI subscription.
How do I contribute?
See CONTRIBUTING.md in our GitHub repo. We welcome JFX fix packages, bug reports, documentation improvements, and code contributions to open-source packages.
